01 Team Development: gamified smart-phone-app

Team Building Events

Human-centred Tech meets Team Building

Our unique, neuroscience-based gamified smart-phone-app-based Team Building program not only drives real behaviour change in the workplace but also improves team connection, communication, engagement, and effectiveness.

This program helps leaders and teams reset, re-connect, adapt, and build new cultures and practical ways of working.

“Best team building day I’ve ever done – and I’ve done a lot of these in the 15-20 or so years we’ve been doing them!” Director, NSW Government

Led by a real human, ideally in a face-to-face environment, our innovative, smartphone app gaming platform delivers a practical, experiential team development program founded on cutting-edge neuroscience research, as well as real-world human behaviour studies and psychology research.

This program brings teams together in a fun, but meaningful way. In an enjoyable, psychologically safe environment, teams get to understand their strengths, blind spots, and development areas, as well as develop how individuals and the whole team operate as a more engaged, connected and productive group.

“This Team Planning Day has been the most engaging so far. It makes you rethink and then go back to work and implement” Manager, NSW Government

Maybe you and your team are looking for team building and a bit if a culture ‘reset’? Maybe you have new team members and want to redesign team connection, culture, and ways of working?

Of course it can also be used to improve and develop existing, strongly performing teams and take them to the next level.

How it works:

Observed by a deeply experienced Team Coach, teams compete in a series of fun, seemingly innocuous games (run through our smartphone app) that are specifically designed to engage, stretch, and challenge their thinking, communication, connection and cohesion, planning, prioritisation, and more. Teams can even compete against the clock and each other if appropriate (we listen to what you need and will advise you accordingly).

The seemingly simple, fun team challenges are specifically designed to bring out nearly every positive and not-so-positive nuance of workplace team behaviour in a psychologically safe, non-threatening yet enjoyable environment.

The Team Coach observes the team in action, then skilfully and tactfully facilitates a team debrief to analyse and unpack the key learnings from the games, and more importantly what practical actions the team will take back in the workplace to be a stronger, more effective team.

The team then immediately applies those learnings and actions in a second set of slightly more challenging, but still fun games, again observed by the team coach. During this second set of games, the team immediately sees and experiences the direct impact of their behaviour change.

“Excellent team building exercise! The difference/change between session 1 and 2 was clearly demonstrated and evident” National Capability Manager, Healthcare Imaging

They form stronger neural learning pathways, which means the team will be motivated to embed the behaviours and take them back to the workplace.

Why choose this Team Development Program over more standard Team Building Events?

  • Provides ROI and proven results on the day and back in the workplace environment
  • It’s underpinned by practical Neuroscience, real-world human behaviour studies and positive psychology research
  • It’s delivered in a psychologically safe, fun, non-threatening environment
  • It can be delivered in a standard training room
  • Uses an interactive, experiential, smartphone-based gamification of teambuilding activities
  • Collaborate as a cohesive team or compete against each other in separate teams!
  • Includes two sets of games completed by uploading your tasks, photos, or videos to the app
  • Is observed by a deeply experienced Team Development Coach
  • Can accommodate small teams of 5 up to conference events of 100+ people

“We had fun as a team but we learnt lots from it. Normally we do stuff & it’s not fun or we don’t work together, or we don’t get the learning from it, but this was brilliant, it did all of that, it did everything”
Team Member, NSW Government

Why not add on: Team Strategy & Planning?

Complement the Team Building session with a facilitator-led half-day Team Planning session.

This group session is led and facilitated by an expert Team Development Coach, based on Six Sigma Black Belt, LEAN and Design Thinking Methodologies as appropriate.

This session can be run face-to-face or virtually. Even for face-to-face sessions, we use state-of-the-art virtual collaboration tool, Mural, so the outcomes are still accessible afterwards wherever people work, in hybrid or remote environments.

Coaching Culture Leadership – Speaker Engagement – Chairman of CEO Institute Syndicates

I had Simon speak to my syndicates about the whole neuroscience perspective and how it relates to self-development, leadership skill sets and CEO performance. He was an excellent presenter receiving very high evaluations from all participants. His approach was practical and yet introduced members to neuroscience and its usefulness in understanding leadership development and I strongly recommend him to your chairs in the Sydney area. He also addressed the coaching role and the part it can play in personal development and team building. He also engaged with me fully prior to the sessions to make sure he came in at the right level to meet my members needs. I wholeheartedly recommend him to you and to your Chairmen.

Michael Powell, Chairman, CEO Institute Syndicates, Griffith University
